What to Learn on Day 1 of Learn Farsi in 100 Days – Part 3:
- “سـ – س” called “sin”, is the fifteenth letter of the Persian alphabet. It has two forms, short and full. “س” sounds /se/ like “s” in “seven”.
سَر /sar/: head سَبَد /sabad/: basket - “ ت- تـ ” /te/ is the fourth letter of the Persian alphabet. It sounds /te/ like “T” in “Train”. It has two forms. “ تـ” is the short form and “ ت ” is the full form and “ت” is the full form.
راست /râst/: straight مَتن /matn/: text - “ کـ – ک” called “kâf”, is the twenty fifth letter of the Persian alphabet. It has short and full forms. “ ک” sounds /ke/ like “k” in “kettle”
کِتاب /ketāb/: book کار /kār/: work - “ز” /ze/ is the thirteenth letter of the Persian alphabet. It only has one form. “ز” only joins to the preceding letters in Persian words. It sounds /ze/ like “ze” in “zipper”
بازار /bâzâr/: market زَبان /zabân/: language
