Grammar: asking and giving the date
To give the date (تاریخ, târikh), Persian uses an ordinal number ending in -om (پنجم, panjom, fifth; دهم, dahom, tenth), followed by the month with the ezâfe: پنجم مهر (panjom-e mehr, the 5th of Mehr). To ask for the date, say امروز چه تاریخی است؟ (emruz che târikhi ast?) or use the question word چندم (chandom, which number), as in امروز چندم است؟
Examples
What is the date (what day is it) today?
Today is the 5th of Mehr.
What’s the date today? (literally, today is which number?)
Today is the 10th.
