Notes on the words
- حساب (hesâb) means "account" at a bank, but also "bill" at a restaurant and "arithmetic" at school.
- پسانداز (pas-andâz) comes from پس انداختن, "to put aside." A savings account is حساب پسانداز (hesâb-e pas-andâz).
- نوبت (nobat) is your turn in a line. At a bank you usually take a ticket and wait until your number is called: نوبت شماست (nobat-e shomâst), "it's your turn."
- In many Iranian banks the clerk sits behind a window or counter, the باجه (bâje).
