Printable Persian Flashcards
Persian on the front, transliteration and English on the back, laid out for double-sided printing.
- Numbers 1–20 (20 cards, with Persian digits)
- Colors (12) and animals (24)
- Family members (16), including the four Persian words for aunt and uncle
- Days of the week (7) and greetings (12)
How to print
- Paper: the files are US Letter. On A4 paper, choose “fit to page” in the print dialog.
- Worksheets: print single-sided so children can trace with pencils, crayons or markers. For reuse, slip a page into a plastic sleeve and trace with a dry-erase marker.
- Flashcards: print double-sided with “flip on long edge” at 100% (actual size). Test one sheet first. No duplex printer? Print single-sided, glue each front sheet to the back sheet that follows it, then cut along the dashed lines.
- Card stock (65–110 lb) makes flashcards last much longer; laminate them for classroom use.
Notes for teachers and parents
- One letter a day. A tracing page takes about 10–15 minutes. Say the letter’s name and sound aloud before tracing, then read the three example words together.
- Group similar letters. Many Persian letters share a body and differ only in dots, such as ب پ ت ث and ج چ ح خ. Teaching them as families helps children spot the difference.
- Point out the non-joiners. The seven letters ا د ذ ر ز ژ و never join to the next letter, which explains the small gaps inside many words.
- Right to left. Each tracing row starts with a dark model letter on the right. Encourage learners to start every row there.
- Flashcard games: play memory (match fronts to backs), “flip and say” races, or sort cards into sets. Numbers and days of the week work well as a daily warm-up.
- Celebrate finishing. The last worksheet page is a certificate of completion with آفرین! âfarin! (well done!).

FAQ
Are these Persian printables really free?
Yes. The tracing worksheets and the flashcards download directly with no sign-up. The Persian Starter Pack is also free; enter your email and we send you the download link.
What paper size are the PDFs?
All three PDFs are US Letter (8.5 x 11 inches). They also print on A4 if you choose “fit to page” or “shrink to fit” in your print settings; for the flashcards, print at 100% if you can so the fronts and backs line up.
How do I print the flashcards double-sided?
Choose two-sided printing with “flip on long edge” and set the scale to 100%. Each back page is laid out as a mirror of its front page, so every card lines up with its translation. Print one sheet first to test your printer.
Which age are the tracing worksheets for?
Children who can hold a pencil, roughly from age 5, and adult beginners. Younger children can trace with a crayon; adults can use the empty rows to practise neat handwriting.
Are these worksheets for Farsi or Dari?
They use standard Persian (Farsi) as written in Iran. Dari uses the same 32 letters, so the letter pages work for Dari learners too; some words and pronunciations differ. See our Dari alphabet worksheets for a Dari version.
Can I use the printables in my classroom?
Yes. Teachers and parents may print as many copies as they need for their own students and children. Please link to this page instead of re-uploading the files elsewhere.
Why are there no short vowels in most of the words?
Everyday Persian writing leaves out the short vowels a, e and o. The Starter Pack explains the vowel marks, and the transliteration under each word shows how to pronounce it.
