Before your first lesson

Every tutor here is independent. Learn Persian Online does not employ them, does not run background checks and is not responsible for fees, payments or lessons. Meet a new tutor on a video call first, agree on the rate and schedule in writing, and never send money before you have confirmed the details with the tutor. When you pay, use a trusted service such as PayPal. For students under 18, keep a parent involved in every contact.

Questions students ask

Farsi, Dari or Tajik: which should I learn?

They are three standard forms of the same language. Farsi is spoken in Iran and by most Persian speakers abroad, Dari in Afghanistan, and Tajik in Tajikistan, where it is written in the Cyrillic alphabet. Farsi and Dari use the same Persian script. Choose the one your family, work or travel plans call for; many tutors can explain the differences.

How do I contact a tutor?

Open the tutor's profile and sign in with your free Learn Persian Online account. The profile then shows the tutor's email and phone number. Write a short note about your level, your goals and the times that suit you.

Does Learn Persian Online charge a fee or handle payments?

No. Browsing tutors and creating an account are free, and we take no commission. Tutors set their own rates, and you pay the tutor directly. Learn Persian Online does not set, collect or refund fees, so confirm everything with the tutor before you pay.

How do I avoid scams?

Talk with the tutor on a video call before paying, and pay through a trusted service such as PayPal so you have a record and can raise a dispute. Never pay with gift cards, crypto or wire transfers to someone you have not met, never share passwords or bank logins, and be wary of urgent requests for money. If anything seems off, stop and report the profile.

Are tutors background-checked?

No. We read every application by hand before it goes live, but we do not check identity or history. Meet online first, and keep a parent involved for students under 18.

How do online lessons work?

Each tutor uses the video tool they prefer, such as Zoom, Google Meet or Skype. Agree on it when you plan your first lesson.
