COUPLET 1
طایرِ دولت اَگر باز گذاری بکندیار باز آید و با وصل، قراری بکند
tâyer-e dowlat agar bâz gozâri bekonad / yâr bâz âyad o bâ vasl gharâri bekonad
If the bird of fortune passes this way again, the beloved will come back and settle down in union.
COUPLET 2
دیده را دستگهِ دُرّ و گهر، گرچه نمانْدبخورد خونی و تدبیرِ نثاری بکند
dide râ dastgah-e dorr o gohar garche namând / bekhorad khuni o tadbir-e nesâri bekonad
Though my eyes have no wealth of pearls and jewels left, they will swallow some blood and find something to scatter as an offering.

دوش گفتم: «بکند لعلِ لبش، چارهٔ من؟»هاتفِ غیب، ندا داد که: «آری! بکند»
dush goftam bekonad la'l-e labash châre-ye man / hâtef-e gheyb nedâ dâd ke âri bekonad
Last night I asked, "Will the ruby of those lips cure me?" A voice from the unseen called out: "Yes, it will."

کس نیارد برِ او دم زند از قصّهٔ مامگرش بادِ صبا گوش گذاری بکند
kas nayârad bar-e u dam zanad az ghesse-ye mâ / magarash bâd-e sabâ gush-gozâri bekonad
No one dares to breathe a word of our story in the beloved's presence; perhaps the morning breeze will whisper it in that ear.

داده‌ام بازِ نظر را به تَذَرْوی پروازبازخواند مگرش نقش و شکاری بکند
dâde-am bâz-e nazar râ be tazarvi parvâz / bâz khânad magarash naghsh o shekâri bekonad
I have sent the falcon of my gaze flying after a pheasant; perhaps a lucky turn will call it back and it will make a catch.

شهر خالیست ز عشّاق؛ بود کز طرفیمردی از خویش برون آید و کاری بکند
shahr khâli-st ze oshshâgh, bovad k-az tarafi / mardi az khish borun âyad o kâri bekonad
The city is empty of lovers; perhaps from some quarter a man will step out of himself and do something.

کو کریمی که ز بزم طربش، غم‌زده‌ایجرعه‌ای درکشد و دفع خُماری بکند؟
ku karimi ke ze bazm-e tarabash ghamzade'i / jor'e'i darkeshad o daf'-e khomâri bekonad
Where is a generous host from whose joyful feast some grieving soul could drink a sip and drive away his hangover?

یا وفا، یا خبرِ وصل تو، یا مرگ رقیببود آیا که فلک، زین دو سه، کاری بکند؟
yâ vafâ yâ khabar-e vasl-e to yâ marg-e raghib / bovad âyâ ke falak z-in do se kâri bekonad
Faithfulness, or news of union with you, or the end of the rival: will the heavens ever do one of these two or three things?

«حافظا»! گر نروی از در او، هم روزیگذری بر سرت از گوشه کناری بکند
Hâfezâ gar naravi az dar-e u ham ruzi / gozari bar sarat az gushe-kenâri bekonad
Hafez, if you do not leave the beloved's door, one day the beloved will pass by you from some corner.
What this fâl tells you
The bird of good fortune may well fly this way again. Tradition reads this fal as a clear "yes" from the unseen voice: what you hope for can come, if you stay faithful at the door and do not give up. Be the one who steps forward and does something when others hold back.
