I will seize the tip of that curl and hand it over to the master, for heartsick Hafez has burned from its tricks and wiles.

What this fâl tells you

Tradition reads this fal as a sign that a breath of good news is near, able to revive a tired heart. The road may feel long, but its hardships will be made up for, as the pilgrims' toil is repaid by the Kaaba. Look for a friend to share your feelings with, and trust that what was lost, like Joseph, can be found again.

A traditional-style reading for reflection and enjoyment.

How this ghazal is built

radif: -ash ("her, its"). qâfiye: -ân (afshân, jân, hejrân, penhân, pâyân, biyâbân, zanakhdân, dastân). Beyt 6 alludes to Jacob grieving in the "house of sorrows" for Joseph, who was thrown into a well.
