What this fâl tells you

This fal is a traveler's song: the heart is tired of a narrow, gloomy place and longs to pack up and go toward what it loves. Tradition reads it as a sign that a change of place or a fresh start is near, and that a vow made in hard times will be kept with joy. Accept help from good companions; the road becomes easier when you do not walk it alone.

A traditional-style reading for reflection and enjoyment.

How this ghazal is built

radif: beravam. qâfiye: -ân (virân, jânân, parishân, soleymân, kharâmân, geryân, ghazal-khân, derakhshân, âsân, dowrân). "Alexander's prison" is traditionally taken as the city of Yazd and "Solomon's kingdom" as Fars, Hafez's home province.
