COUPLET 1
ru-ye to kas nadid o hezârat raghib hast / dar ghonche'i hanuz o sadat andalib hast
No one has seen your face, yet you have a thousand rivals; you are still a bud, yet a hundred nightingales sing for you.
COUPLET 2
gar âmadam be ku-ye to chandân gharib nist / chon man dar ân diyâr hezârân gharib hast
If I have come to your street, it is not so strange: in that land there are thousands of strangers like me.
COUPLET 3
dar eshgh khâneghâh o kharâbât fargh nist / har jâ ke hast parto-ye ru-ye habib hast
In love there is no difference between Sufi lodge and tavern: wherever one is, the light of the beloved's face is there.
COUPLET 4
ânjâ ke kâr-e sowme'e râ jelve midahand / nâghus-e deyr-e râheb o nâm-e salib hast
Where they make a show of cloister piety, the monk's church bell and the name of the cross are there too.
COUPLET 5
âshegh ke shod ke yâr be hâlash nazar nakard / ey khâje dard nist vagarna tabib hast
Who ever became a true lover and was not looked upon by the beloved? Master, what is missing is the pain; the doctor is there.
COUPLET 6
faryâd-e Hâfez in hame âkher be harze nist / ham ghesse'i gharib o hadisi ajib hast
Surely all of Hafez's crying out is not for nothing: there is a strange story in it and a wonderful tale.

What this fâl tells you

Even before something has fully opened, it draws admiration; your hopes are like a bud with many nightingales around it. Tradition reads this fal as reassurance that sincere longing is always answered by a healer, and that love can be found wherever you truly look. Your story is worth telling.

A traditional-style reading for reflection and enjoyment.

How this ghazal is built

radif: hast ("there is"). qâfiye: -ib (raghib, andalib, gharib, habib, salib, tabib, ajib).
