Farsi Complete Course: Intermediate is Book 2 of the three-level course. Its 10 chapters cover invitations, weather, visiting the doctor, sports, the hair salon, transportation, shopping, daily activities, addresses and requests. Grammar moves on to participles, the present perfect, comparatives, conditionals, the passive and polite verbs, and readings on Iran, Nowruz and Isfahan come with true-or-false questions. Answers and a glossary close it. 208-page PDF by Reza Nazari and Somayeh Nazari.
After a beginner course you can read simple sentences, but real conversations use shortened forms and more tenses. Book 2 of Farsi Complete Course builds on Book 1 with ten new situations, from inviting a friend to the cinema to asking for an address, and adds the grammar intermediate learners need: the present perfect, conditional sentences and the passive voice.
Unlike Book 1, this volume is written almost entirely in Persian, with only some vowel marks and no transliteration in the lessons. Each chapter opens with key sentences (در یک نگاه, at a glance), then alternates dialogues, speaking-and-writing boxes such as بریم (berim) for برویم (beravim, let’s go), grammar with exercises, and short readings.
Book 2 assumes you read Persian script and know the basic tenses from Book 1.
Invitations, weather, a doctor’s visit, sports, the hair salon, transportation, shopping, daily routines, addresses and making requests.
After each dialogue, a box sets colloquial words beside written ones, such as کدوم (kodum) and کدام (kodâm), which.
Participles, the present perfect and its negative, comparatives and superlatives such as بهترین (behtarin, best), conditions with اگر (agar), question tags with مگه نه (mage na) and the passive in several tenses.
Ordinal numbers, prefixes and suffixes such as بی (bi-) and گر (-gar), words like هر and بعضی, and polite verbs such as تشریف آوردن (tashrif âvardan).
Short texts on the Persian language, Iran’s geography, Nowruz, Yalda night, Isfahan and the Chehel Sotoun palace, each followed by true-or-false questions.
An answer key (پاسخنامه) from page 161 and a glossary (واژگان) from page 169.
Chapter 1, Invitations (دعوت کردن), lists the spoken words from its dialogues next to their written forms:
| Spoken | Written | Pronunciation (spoken) | English |
|---|---|---|---|
| بریم | برویم | berim | let’s go |
| میتونیم | میتوانیم | mitunim | we can |
| اونجا | آنجا | unjâ | there |
| کدوم | کدام | kodum | which |
| دیره | دیر است | dire | it’s late |
The free guide to spoken vs written Persian explains the patterns behind these changes.
Chapter titles are in Persian in the book:
Book 1 teaches the alphabet and basic situations with vowel marks and transliteration. Book 2 (this one) switches to mostly Persian-only text with ten new situations and intermediate tenses. Book 3 covers travel, emergencies, art and health in longer readings, with proverbs and poetry.
Not in the lessons. The book expects you to read Persian script, and only some words carry vowel marks.
Mostly not. Chapter titles, exercise instructions and readings are in Persian, so you should know classroom words such as تمرین (tamrin, exercise).
Yes. It starts on page 161 and is followed by a glossary.
