Dmitri Prigov was born just before a war, and Dmitri Prigov: The Inspiring Story of a Genius begins gently with that time: shelters during air raids, small birthday cakes, families hoping for peace. Around 1946 or 1947 he starts school, and later he moves between studios at the Stroganov Institute, carving stone, painting and studying art history.
This book is nearly twice the length of The Story of Dmitri Prigov, which has 47 pages. It spends more time on his art training and on particular works, such as Moscow and Muscovites, his funny police poems and the Catalogue of Objects, and it explains Soviet censorship to children in simple terms.
